Taipei Taiwan (Aug. 23, 2006)--TAITRA (Taiwan External Trade Development Council) disclosed the 14th Taiwan Symbol of Excellence Award list in early August.  AAEON Technology has been awarded for six outstanding products in 2006.  These prestigious products reveal outstanding performance in R&D and Design Innovation, Quality Systems, and Market and Brand Awareness. 
 
AAEON addressed the reasons behind these 6 extraordinary product awards:

• Waterproof Embedded Controller--AEC-6710
  BOXER G, AEC-6710 is the world's first IP-67 certified embedded communication controller.  IP-67 is a rating of total protection from dust ingress and immersion in water up to 1m, whereby the controller can be located in a extremely harsh environments such as outdoor applications, heavy industrial and military applications.  A powerful communication gateway, BOXER G, AEC-6710 can be used as a front-end device, connected to multiple backend devices and for 24-7 operational requirements.
  As an X86 computer based system with an all aluminum body and seamless joints, the AEC-6710 presents the ultimate mechanical design.  The unique IP-67 sealing mechanism is under Taiwan and Germany patent process.
  The BOXER series has received 5 international patents (Germany, Japan, Taiwan and China) for its finned, fan-less chassis design. Exceptional heat conduction without any moving components allows the AEC-6710 to withstand temperatures up to 70 degree C.  The curved shape creates the biggest area of heat release.  The design of the BOXER G also has minimal contact area with the surface to which it is mounted preventing the problem of dirt buildup and moisture collection.  With the selection of industrial grade components, the MTBF (Mean Time Before Failure) of AEC-6710 is more than 50,000 hours at 35°C ambient temperature.
• 3.5" RISC Single Board Computer--GENE-1270B
  GENE-1270B adopts the Intel XScale PXA270.  This RISC CPU module features low power consumption and cost-efficiency, to fulfill the requirements of rugged and price sensitive applications.  The module has 2 COM ports (1 RS-232, 1 RS-232/485), 4 USB 1.1 host, 1 USB 1.1 Client, Digital I/O, etc., to connect and control the peripheral devices.  CompactFlash and SDIO slots are featured to meet the need for external expansion.  The CPU frequency is up to 520MHz providing exceptional performance in it's class.  In addition, the GENE-1270B incorporates the Intel 2700G Display Companion Chipset which not only provides the functions of MPEG2/4 video decode, but also 2D/3D acceleration.  Bundling the Intel XScale PXA270 with the 2700G results in a highly integrated system for rugged mobile applications.   
• 3.5" Single Board Computer--GENE-8310
  The GENE-8310 utilizes the newest generation Intel Ultra Low Voltage Celeron processor and the Intel 852GM chipset. As a low-power platform, the GENE-8310 offers a stable and efficient computing platform balancing performance and power consumption. The GENE-8310 is an extremely versatile product allowing for its adoption in a wide variety of new applications.
• 17" Smart Wi Fi Medical Display--Onyx-217
  The Onyx-217 is a 17" SXGA (1280 x 1024) rugged, true color TFT display panel and has been approved to EN60601-1 and UL60601-1 standards for limited power leakage and electronic emission.  These two medical level displays' brightness, resolution, and contrast ratio are better than standard LCD displays which cannot fulfill the DICOM requirement.  Onyx-217 provides a DVI port to transmit medical images to an external display.  This DVI port prevents signal distortion during transmission. An On Screen Display (OSD) on the front panel allows for convenient operation by end users.
  The Onyx-217 features a USB Hub for peripheral connections and an integrated smart card reader, all-in-one card reader, and DVD-ROM to increase efficiency for patient use and medical practitioners.  For enhancing e-Health care communication, Onyx-217 can also be equipped with Web CAM and USB photo accessory kits for medical practitioners to communicate with patients more easily. In addition, IP-65 is also one of significant features of Onyx-217.
• Advanced Fanless Embedded Controller--AEC-6910
  The AEC-6910 can provide 1~2 PCI slots for expansion. The AEC-6910's expansion capabilities, compact size, fan-less design, and highly efficient heat conduction mechanism can fulfill the technical requirements of any rugged application in industrial automation, factory control, test instrumentation and safety surveillance.
  Intel's popular Pentium M processor with speeds of 1.6GHz up to 2.0GHz combined with fanless design offers a high performance, widely accepted and dependable platform in this market. USB 2.0, Ethernet and 4 Serial ports allow communication with diverse devices with a high transfer rate. Furthermore, the AEC-6910 can concurrently support three types of expansion interfaces- PCI, PCMCIA and mini-PCI.
• 19" Smart Medical Solution--Onyx-193
