| POS (Point-Of-Sale) devices can make the checkout process more efficient than a traditional cash register. The right POS system can provide businesses a new way to increase efficiency, profits and manage their business model easier. With a wrong system, however, time and money may be wasted.
The most basic POS system will consist of a computer, a cash drawer, a receipt printer, a monitor and input devices such as a keyboard, a barcode scanner or a card reader. However, the equipment mentioned above is often not enough for the retailers, since more and more companies require a customized POS system to meet their needs. Nowadays, the design of POS system is different from the past. It requires higher performance involving a faster CPU, better screen resolution, smoother HMI function and so on. It can be placed at various locations for clerks or customers to operate. The POS system has become a multi-function machine for businesses to run their advertising program or checkout process; even transactions can be self-served by customers.
