Mini-ITX motherboards are a compact form factor of computer motherboards that are commonly used in small form factor (SFF) PCs. They measure 6.7 inches x 6.7 inches (170mm x 170mm) which is about two-thirds the size of a standard ATX motherboard, which makes them a suitable option for small or confined spaces. Mini-ITX is a versatile form factor originally designed for fan-less embedded deployments. These boards often make use of embedded processors and SoCs in addition to desktop CPUs. Mini-ITX features the same backplane and I/O location as ATX and Micro-ATX boards and can mount in cases built for these larger boards. While expansion is more limited, the Mini-ITX board makes up for this with a form factor that is smaller, more compact, and often even slimmer, making it perfect for embedded applications which need more features than its smaller PICO-ITX sibling, but still require a tight fit.
